Andy Baird's linear portraits measure as large as 6 x 8 feet. He paints with the canvas on the floor, first creating a rough sketch of the features. He then drips paint while walking on the canvas, working from the center out. He adds two or three colors each day, using vibrant combinations that allow the subject to intriguingly appear and disappear.
"Each time I visit the painting, I try to decide whether to lose
the image or strengthen it with the paint that I am dripping. I
like it that people find it interesting to study these paintings,
to think about the creation and to trace the lines of paint. This
is artwork that actively involves the viewer. The never-ending diversity
of faces and the endless way to portray them captivates and connects
us all."
