Greg Evans' work is appreciated by private art lovers as well as corporate patrons.
One large painting hangs in the lobby of the fifth largest company
in the U.S. One of his golf paintings was recently shown in the
TV series, "The Casino" and he has exhibited at the PGA Golf Expos
in Orlando and Las Vegas. Evans has also been the subject of an article
in Avid Golfer magazine.
"When I start to paint, I turn on music which makes me want to dance. I listen
to everything from rock and roll to country to soul to classical.
The important thing is to feel the movement. I paint fast and hungry
like I have an urgent deadline. I have a sign in my studio that
reads, "More Passion!". My best paintings sometimes take
the least amount of time to create."
Evans has always had a fascination with sports and was influenced by LeRoy Neiman. He begins with an abstract background of large sweeping splashes of color to create a feeling of movement and then lets the colors blend and create themselves.
"The roar of a crowd is often an abstract blur for the athlete. A quick glance reveals a sea of faceless people in rolling movements of color. I want my painting to stand out in a room. I want it to catch your eye as you turn your head, then draw you in and hold you there."
