A self taught artist and native of Denver, Wais's passion for art began with carving in wood, then sculpting in stone, and evolved to various styles of painting. His work could be called abstract expressionism or impressionism, but he keeps a fresh perspective by continually experimenting with new styles and materials.
Wais finds freedom in the infinity of artwork. The inspiration for his work comes from light and color. "I obtain ideas from the almost magical light in nature, combinations of colors and shapes from architecture, and even the colors in people's eyes and hair." Wais's work brings instant attention as the viewer is immediately drawn to the colors and ultimately intrigued by his revolutionary technique.
